JVC ANNOUNCES CD-R EXTENSIONS SOFTWARE

Las Vegas, NV (November 18, 1996) -- JVC Information Products Company of America announced today its JVC Extensions Software for CD-R Packet Writing. JVCÆs CD-R Extensions Software utilizes ôVariable Packet Writing,ö enabling direct recording to CD-R disc. With transparent recording capability, CD-R devices can now be utilized like other traditional removable storage devices such as floppy disk or Jaz drives.

Generating only 14Kb of overhead per recording, the Extensions software ensures that each CD-ROM disc can accommodate literally hundreds of recordings before finalization. Users can record CD-ROMÆs in ISO 9660 format (cross-platform compatibility) or Back-up mode (DOS or Windows 95). Additionally, Back-up mode offers the advantage of password encryption for added security of CD-ROM data. Standard O/S commands such as Copy, Delete, Rename, Move, Run, etc. are supported in the JVC Extensions software for transparent recording to the CD-R drive.

The Extensions Software is included in JVCÆs Personal Archiver Plus and Personal RomMaker Plus CD-R system offerings.
